TREATMENT OF A POLLUTED WATER TABLE BY STRIPPING (83)
Following the discovery of a lead-free
fuel leak near a service station located
in urban environment, ORTEC Generale de Depollution
studied, designed and set up an operation
to treat the water table and recover the
polluting hydrocarbons.
An initial emergency diagnostic including
drilling, permeability tests and pumping
tests was carried out to determine the
configuration of the pumping network
and the treatment to be implement. In
this relatively complex geological context
and due to the fact that private irrigation
wells were affected, ORTEC Generale de Depollution
installed in emergency a recuperation
network consisting of three pumps equipped
with all-fluid pumps.
The water table is treated by a mobile
stripping unit operating continuously
by phase separation and volatilisation
of organic polluting substances (BTEX).
The polluted air is recovered and treated
using an active carbon filter.
In one year, the BTEX concentrations were
reduced by 95%.
